I’ve been promising this recipe for over a week now….so sorry to delay. I am new to blogging recipes, so bear with me! I hope you enjoy! This is one of my top seller’s at my booth at the Flea Market along with the Coconut Macaroons that I posted yesterday.
What you need:
1/2 jar (of a 40 oz jar) of Peanut Butter
1/2 can (6 oz) of evaporated milk
6 oz water
4 & 1/2 cups of sugar
1 stick butter
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
Butter a 9 x 13 pan and set aside. Combine sugar, evaporated milk, and water into a large kettle. Heat on high until boiling-stirring continuously (roughly around 5-7 minutes). You have to stir the whole time…if you don’t it won’t turn out right. Add stick of butter and stir until melted. After about 5-7 more minutes, test mixture by dropping some of the mixture in a spoon into a glass of water to see if it is forming balls at the bottom of the glass. If so, then take kettle off burner and add in vanilla and stir and then add the peanut butter and stir. Stir, stir, stir, and keep stirring. Once peanut butter is mixed and mixture is smooth pour into prepared pan and smooth out with spatula. Place in freezer for 5-10 minutes to set. Slice and serve.
I slice them pretty thick…about the size of a travel sized toothpaste container.
This makes 16 bars per batch.
