Chocolate Chip and Black Walnut Cookie Bars

I just love cookie bar (aka Congo Bars) recipes.  Easy and delicious!  You can’t beat that.  No rolling into balls or scooping out the dough.  Once you get all the ingredients mixed you simply pour and spread batter into a greased baking dish.  When done simply cut and serve!  It’s that easy!!

What you need:

2 & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 & 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 lb. of light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 pkg chocolate chips
1 cup black walnuts

Coat a 13 X9 pan with with non-stick spray or butter, set aside.  Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a large mixing bowl.  Set aside.  Stir brown sugar into softened butter in another bowl.  Add eggs one at a time into the butter mixture and stir well.  Add vanilla extract, chocolate chips, and walnuts.  Stir well.  Add to dry flour mixture and stir until well combined-making sure to scrape sides of bowl.  Spread batter evenly into pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.  Let cool and then slice and serve.

Makes 20 cookie bars per batch.
