Cinnamon-Vanilla French Toast

I’ve always followed the recipe for French Toast that I found here.

I wanted to experiment a little with the recipe this morning and it turned out super yummy!

A little cinnamon and a little vanilla paired with some good ole’ fashioned maple syrup added the perfect sweetness that I was craving.

This is one of the easiest breakfast recipes…you can whip it all together in less than 5 minutes!

Cinnamon-Vanilla French Toast

Ingredients:

4 eggs

1-2 tsp sugar

a dash of salt

1 cup of milk

8 slices of bread

1/2-1  tsp cinnamon

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

butter

maple syrup

Instructions

Place a iron skillet on burner.  Place 2 tsp of butter into skillet and turn on medium.

Mix  eggs, sugar, salt, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract with a whisk in a shallow pie dish.

Dip bread into the mixture , flip over to the other side and make sure bread is moist on both sides.

Place bread into skillet and wait for a few minutes.

Flip bread over and cook on the other side. {We like ours well done, so we usually leave it in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes per side}

Remove from skillet and serve with butter and maple syrup.

Makes enough for 4-5  people.

  1. Oh yum! You just made me very hungry! I adore French toast and still make it now and then. I use Dave’s Killer Bread that is totally super healthy and low sugar jams or sugar free syrup. I have two cast iron skillets I specifically bought just for French Toast. I remember my childhood days when mom would make her version in cast iron. Nothing browns the French Toast like well seasoned cast iron. Thanks for the post. – Bob
